This unit aims to provide students with a working knowledge of built environment contract administration principles and processes. The unit covers differing administration processes for commonly used construction contract models. Students will be introduced to strategic management techniques for addressing real-world contract administration issues. Additionally, the students will learn practical techniques for managing documentation and scheduling a construction project as a contract administrator.

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
1. Critically evaluate and distinguish between appropriate contract administration processes across different construction contractual models;
2. Critically analyse different strategies to manage time, resources, and risks for a building projects based on best practice;
3. Manage and articulate strategic planning techniques to solve contractual management issues, including time, cost, quality, and dispute resolution; and
4. Apply and adapt advanced organisational skills to effectively manage the requirements of specific construction contract models, using manual and relevant techniques.
