Skills development
The Dietitians Australia National Competency Standards (DA 2021) include elements of competency that align with the Graduate Attributes (including the Indigenous Graduate Attributes). As students make an autonomous contribution as a dietetics professional within their internship they will be required to bring the performance criteria of these professional standards into play.

Submission of assessment items
Extensions & Late submissions
Students will not be able to commence their internship if their Individual Agreements have not be signed.
Special assessment requirements
Students must satisfactorily complete all assigned placement assessment items to pass the unit. Attendance at 100% of the professional placements is required, and is a condition for passing this unit, see section 6c for more details.
Students must apply academic integrity in their learning and research activities at UC. This includes submitting authentic and original work for assessments and properly acknowledging any sources used.

UC students have to complete the annually to learn about academic integrity and to understand the consequences of academic integrity breaches (or academic misconduct).

Learner engagement
In order to complete this unit each student is required to complete a 4 week full time professional internship.
Participation requirements
Students are required to attend 100% of all professional placements unless they have a valid reason for non-attendance (e.g. illness) or permission by the Unit Convener. Further details regarding placement attendance requirements are outlined in
Required IT skills
Students are expected to be familiar with the use of diet analysis software (i.e. Foodworks, Foodscan & Serve). Online support is also available from: learnonline.support@canberra.edu.au
In-unit costs
Students must travel to placement sites and be accommodated at their own expense. Uniform and textbooks costs must be paid for by students. Some sites, such as The Canberra Hospital, require students to pay $20 cash as a deposit to obtain a (compulsory) ID card. This money is fully refunded on return of the ID on the last day of placement.
Work placement, internships or practicums
This unit involves Placement. Students must adhere to University policy during WIL activities, including the Student Conduct Rules 2018, the WIL Policy and WIL Procedure, and the Assessment Policy and Assessment Procedure.
